A resident Canadian transplanted to the “U S of A” 9 years ago…living in the rice-a-roni capital (aka San Francisco). A designer by trade fueled by the inspiration we call life. All of my life I have been surrounded by a cultural melting pot, art, and amazing people…it’s no wonder I’m addicted to cultural adventures. 🙂 I love to travel and explore all that this world has to offer. Seeing & experiencing other countries, their culture and their cuisine is where you’ll find me – Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Cuba etc. are a few of my past adventures. Shhh, don’t tell the others but I like to talk about fonts, pantone colors and my love for good design but we’ll save that for later.

If I had to define a role for myself in this crazy group it would either be the “wine-o” or the “picky eater” since I have some serious food issues which will be discussed at length I’m sure.  I have lived in this sonoran desert for 17 years, so I consider myself a native.  I am 38, yikes, and work in Marketing and absolutely love my job.  I love to write so my job (and now this blog) gives me some creative outlets from time to time.  Snow and cold weather don’t suit me well, which is one of the reasons why I left little Rhody, Rhode Island.  Living in the ocean state for 21 years yielded limited experiences to other cultures, cuisines, or basically anything that wasn’t RI. Getting out of the Northeast and away from the comfort of my family and childhood friends has pushed me to move outside of my comfort zone.  I have grown to love traveling, exploring, meeting different people and experiencing new things.

Jannette in 3-5 sentences…YIKES!  I’m a 35 year old born and raised on a small family farm in Iowa. That’s right a real Farmer’s daughter, corn fed and raised with a love for sports and the great outdoors. Growing up near a small town my exposure to diversity was limited but emphasized the importance of family and friends.  Always a daredevil, adventurist, and overachiever, I kept the Nuns on their toes in Catholic School; and after graduating from the University of Iowa, I moved to sunny Arizona. No job, no home, just me, my little dog, and my best friend. 10 years later and here I am. An OCD organized freak at work but when it comes to playtime I’m as laid back as they come. Hand me a Guinness and life is good.

So a little bit about me…I enjoy candlelit dinners, long walks on the b….oh shit!  That is my online dating profile…let’s try that one again.  I am 31, a former college athlete and type-A personality that has mellowed in my old age.  I happen to be the only (former) Mainer that dislikes lobster so they kicked me out of the state and so I have been here in AZ for almost 6 years, although there was a short stint in San Francisco for work in the middle.  I love trying new things and spending time with fun and interesting people (that’s how I ended up with this crazy bunch).  I also have an unhealthy obsession with shoes…but that is a whole other story and my sentence quota has been met 🙂 Pepito:
